Hi,

I would suggest you lot to contact the figurer manufacturer and check if they take the drivers other than the one that was provided through updates.

What a COP OUT ANSWER! I'm a tech and tin't get the stupid thing to piece of work on my camcorder with Windows 7 Pro either. I built my system and and then did other people out there who cannot find the exact bits of code to make the thing work. It works fine in XP Pro and other record based Sony camcorders work fine in Windows seven 64 scrap so I desire to use mine too. This was a $600 camera and I want to use it. I even bought the stupid firewire menu with Windows 7 on the box and not one single video editing software knows it's even there. Yes I troubleshoot as a tech every scenario and read every complaint of so many people who are having the same bug with firewire and camcorders on Windows seven.

I have been a tech and used Microsoft products since DOS 5.0. I desire ANSWERS not another stupid matter to purchase!!!!! Now I hear Microgreed is putting out Windows 8 this year to take over your life in doing everything on the computer for you. Well I want my camcorder to piece of work and to use it. I should not take to become through all these hours of frustration. Microgreed has made enough enough money from anybody all over the world forcing people to upgrade to x hardware to run their new x OS blah blah blah....to back up all the other tape based camcorders, whereby tapes are still sold for them, and they work simply fine for many videos that are online right now. It is way past time for Microgreed to give dorsum to u.s.a. who take made them who they are today and paid their greedy salaries, their mortgages off, vacations, etc by now.

And so if y'all other so called professional person techs out there accept something important to say to actually aid FIX the problem then say information technology, or else take your 'call x person' cop out solution somewhere else. All that says is you don't accept a clue how to ready the problem and that is not helping the person looking for a solution, who past the mode just might be a tech also, and has to skim through hundreds of those stupid non information solutions that helps no i!!!!!!!

I'm non sure if you lot accept tried this yet, but Salahudeen_S on the Canon HG20 Drivers thread had a unproblematic solution to a similar event.  After swapping out the cable that came with the photographic camera with another ane, the Os recognized his photographic camera.

I empathize that we are talking the difference between a digital videocassette recorder and a photographic camera, as well as being USB vs Firewire, but it might be worth a endeavor.

Also, you might want to attempt the suggestion given by John Cena in the Windows seven and Firewire Problem thread at the TechNet forums.

Thanks for your answer and for sharing. I already did the John Cena thing that patently makes mutual sense, just no it did not work. I don't have another cablevision and that did cross my listen. I'm going to have to go to Radio Shack and Best Buy to run into if they have a newer i that might work, simply I should Non accept to spend more money like this.  I am and then ill of Microsoft not being more than community friendly when they tin can see all the problems everyone has just like I can. They should accept a completely filled programming division that only deals with drivers needed for such devices because there is more than enough ecology damage now with so much electronics in the landfills already and my $600 camera should piece of work without these problems.

So in conclusion I'k going to bank check out Radio Shack first later on I shovel Lake Erie out of my driveway tomorrow....maybe lol. Too common cold so far to have whatsoever ambition to practice it.

I recently came across an interesting post that might be worth investigating.  Take a expect at what James Shield had to say about firewire devices at the Windows vii will not recognize Firewire iLink cablevision thread.

Thanks

I do have an reply that near don't desire to hear. It toll me money just...it worked.

I finally (!) constitute a third political party firewire carte du jour that worked with my DSR-11 on my system running Win Bone vii 64.  It was a generic PCI expansion menu that featured a VIA chipset with 2 - USB ii.0 ports and ane - 1394A 4 pin port on the dorsum. Plus, one internal USB 2.0 and one 6 pin 1394. Bought it at Tigerdirect for about $30.

I besides installed a older version of Sony Vegas that I got for less than $70 brand new and fully licensed.  After some d*cking effectually installing and united nations-installing various older (heritage etc) 1394 drivers that were resident in Win 7 and the ones that I could download from the site of my newly installed expansion card, Vegas finally saw my DSR-11 and we all edited happily always afterwards. Just remember to reboot after each installation of a driver.  Note: attempt and find the heritage 1394 driver from a XP 32 machine and re-create it to your 64 system if y'all can get a hold of it.

What I learned for sure was that others who said that you must utilize a 1394A port with the 4 pin Sony cable were indeed right.  No other combination (6 pin to iv pin for example) worked with my DSR-eleven.  Even after I managed to get everything talking to one some other, I decided to encounter if the internal 6 pivot to 4 pivot cablevision would work - it didn't.  Put back the four pin cable?  Success.  Go figure.

My DSR-11 is a very old, very dependable machine.  Its interface was rather proprietary.  Translation? Finicky as h#ll as it was written in the era of Win 2K and the 1394A interface fell out of favor quite rapidly in the consumer world.  Only vid-geeks like me with Pinnacle linear editor or Canopus RexEdit  hardware running Premiere 5.0/6/0 depended on the original Firewire for PC'south.

I sincerely hope that helps you and anyone else that has this trouble.  Why Microsoft can't provide a functional heritage Firewire commuter is beyond me but there information technology is.

Now....tin anyone tell me where I can discover a driver for my very old, very dependable 1st Gen Apple IPod Touch on that will allow me see it in my Win Bone 7 64 bit machine?   Thanks!

Cheers for this advice.  I retrieve my situation slightly different.  I have full command of my Sony Z5 camera via the firewire using either the default or legacy microsoft driver and I can capture intermitently in ~DVCAM mode but not at all in HDV mode.  I'thou waiting to hear back from Sony to come across if there is a problem with my Startech firewire card.  I've had no trouble captruing from the Sony F800 HD XDCAM camcorder using the Sony proprietry driver.  Still a mystery.

Regards

The trouble is Microsoft and their colossal stupidity. Its a windows 7 issue, and forums are filled with EVERY USB to Firewire not working because the driver fails. It will work on older versions of Windows but not Windows 7. This seems to be the case for standard firewire too. Windows should have an update to fix this by now, only they don't seem to care.

This is actually good information and communication in the previous posts - Thank you lot.  With the help of the prior posts, I was able to get my newly built Win 7 64 bit OS editing organization to easily recognize the Sony DSR11 Deck via Firewire 1394 A and using a generic 6 pin to four pivot firewire cable.

I installed the Vantec UGT-FW210 Firewire carte du jour (PCIe ×1).  If offers 1 1394A (400) 6pin port and ii 1394B (800) ports.  I only have utilize for the firewire 400.  Windows automatically loaded the correct drivers with no intervention from me.  Crawly!!!

It works PERFECTLY!!!
